Writing Activity T3W7

Can I vary my sentence beginnings, structures and lengths.

Yesterday after school mum told me that we were going home but we went to my cousins, it was his birthday and no one had told me. When we got there we played Fortnight and we were talking to people online. Ten minutes later his mum asked my mum if we wanted to stay for tea and she said yes. I was so excited. We also watched new fortnight dances on Youtube. A character did a back flip and we tried to copy him. We ended up landing on our heads. I got A BIG LUMP on mine! I had a great time at my cousin's birthday.

Quiver


We got to chose a contract to do for reading. I chose to do a Quiver. My picture is of a penguin it spins around. First we coloured a picture then when I finished colouring it in I got an Ipad. I went to Quiver and took a video. I air dropped it so I could put it on my blog.

Cave Paintings

We are learning about cave paintings. We went on CC Search and found one we liked. 
They used limestone, red ochre, charcoal to paint with. The tools they used were fingers ,sticks, feet, fur from an animal. They drew this because it reminds them what to hunt for and remember what they are.

2 days ago the teacher told us that we could go on cc search and look for a piece of art that you like to put on our blog. Here is what I chose.

I like this art because it has good detail and good shading
I also like it because when I went to Australia I patted one when it was sleeping and I got a photo too. It is in a frame.

Puppet Pals

One day our class did an activity on an IPAD and we went on Puppet Pals. You chose your vehicle, a police car or a horse and you got to choose 6 characters. You got to choose a background too and when you were ready you pushed a red button and then it started to record.    

Toondoo

We learnt how to use a new website called Toondoo. You get to choose your own characters and you get to choose your background and other things to create a cartoon. We included onomatopoeia which is words that represent sounds.

One day we did science project we got a canister, some vinegar then we got baking soda. We built a volcano over the canister. We got an iPad and took photos of the volcano getting built. When we were finished we had to make sounds for our video.

A New Animal

One day I was at the desert and I saw a half rattle snake and half lobster with the horns of a bull and the  tonge of a bat.  It lived in a big dark cave and it ate all different kinds of snakes. It slept on lots of dirt and for breakfast it ate any sorts of bugs.

Chunky Chalks

Chunky Chalks
Mrs Palmer read us a book about Chunky Chalks. It gave us an idea, so we made some of our own. My favourite part was working with my buddy because we shared everything we did. 
Question
What will happen when we mix Plaster of Paris with water?


Materials
Plaster of Paris, water, bowl, spoon, measuring cups, 2 plastic bags.


Method
  1. In a bowl tip 2 cups of Plaster of Paris and ¾ cup of water.
  2. Add some dye to colour it.
  3. Stir the mixture until there is are no lumps and it is smooth.
  4. Divide the mixture in half. Put half in one plastic bag and the other half in the other plastic bag.
  5. Take all the air out of the bag and seal it up.
  6. Put the bag on the bench and after an hour make an observation.
  7. Leave there for at least 24 hours.
  8. Open the bag and see what you can do with it.


Observations
  1. After an hour we picked up the plastic bag and it felt warm and was starting to go hard.
  2. The next day it was very hard and had formed into a shape.


Results
Gypsum (calcium sulfate) is one of the ingredients of Plaster of Paris. Gypsum is found as a mineral rock. The calcium sulfate is bound together by water which keeps it in its solid form.

When gypsum is heated gently water is lost and the crystals become white powder. When we add water to this powder, the water recombines with the gypsum. As this happens the mixture gets hot (an exothermic chemical reaction occurs) and forms a paste which then sets hard.

One day I went to the beach and I saw a bottle moving shaking so I slowly opened it. I saw a mystical genie. It said to me "Master you have 3 wishes so my first wish was I wanted a mansion. Suddenly I got a mansion. I got every thing I wanted in the mansion , my own big bed, xbox ps4 and a massive pool behind my mansion. My 2nd wish was and 3 jet skies and 3 jets. My last wish was my own airport.

Student Blogging Challenge Week 3

Today we learnt about creative Commons. On this website you can use images, videos and music without getting special permission from the owner. It's a website that you and others can put images, videos and music you want to share and use. We watched a video  learn how to use creative commons.

There lived 4 elves. They lived in a snowy house. One day they left it and went fishing. They court the biggest fish in the world so they went home and had the biggest feast they had before. The next day they saw rusty slug gun's barred under the snow so they grabbed them and went hunting for dears. They caught one but it didn't die so they made it there pet.

Green Pastures Camp

I pulled the bow back then I let go and it launched and I hit the target and then it bounced right back. I had another shot. I pulled the bow back and the bow went over the target. I collected the arrows and I went to the back of the line and it was then Baylen's turn. He pulled it right back and it stuck to the target and on his last turn he just missed it.

Writing Experience T1W4



Rhyan’s Marble Experiment

Hypothesis: The marble might make the water go all bubbly.
The marble will disappear
The marble will get bigger
The marble will shrink
The marble will make the water go gooey.                          
Materials: water, a cup, marble made of special plastic


Procedure:
1: Fill the cup up with water.
2: Put the marble in.
3: Put it on the table and leave for a few hours to see what happens.

Observation:

1st When the marble got dropped into the cup it formed air bubbles.
2nd Over a couple of days it got bigger and bigger and the we couldn’t see it.
3rd It soaked all the water up so it could get bigger.
4th The marble got all squishy and if you put your nail in it will pop.

Result; The marble became invisible because it sucked up all the water it was now more water

than plastic. The air bubbles formed when the marble was dropped in the water they got pushed
out of the way as the marble got bigger.

Adaptation: I would put dye into the water and see if the water and marble will change color.

The Storyteller

Apirana Taylor came to our school. He had lots of musical instruments that made cool noises. He had this cool flute that kind of a screamed. He also had a bone  flute that made a scream again and he had a guitar. He had a wooden peach and when you swing it around it makes a whistle noise. He had two sticks that make music and you have to bang it four times. He was being funny at the end he was pulling his tongue out.

Harakeke and Weaving at the museum

At the museum on Wednesday we learnt about harakeke and weaving. We got shown lots of different fibre and we had to make are own fibre. We got given some of our own harakeke and used   a knife to get all of the fibre out of the harakeke then we used the knife to scrape off all the green stuff. The fibre from the harakeke wass called muka. Next we did some weaving and it was kind of tricky because we had to get a some string and put it in the little lines. Then we had to weave fibre over and under.

Re-crafting my Night at the Museum Story

It was a dark night at Museum, I was one of the guards there. One night at the Museum everything come alive and it got a little bit scary because a bone Dinosaur come alive. There were lions and tigers and there's smart monkey that steals your keys and when  you ask it for the keys it will pee on you. It also bites your fingers and it hurts you. I had to get the keys off the monkey by gving it toy keys to trick it. I had to play with the Dinosaur. I had to feed the talking statue some gum, gum. After all that I went home and a big sleep.

Describe It

I had to work with a buddy to describe a Polar bear. We had to use verbs and adjectives to describe it.


It was a beautiful snowy day in Arctic. I looked out the window of my cabin and I saw snow everywhere then something moved... it was a fluffy, white polar bear with a shiny black nose.
The polar bear stuck her nose through the open window.  She saw a fiery flame in the dark wooden cabin and came in to eat all our fish.

Yesterday we went to the hall to learn about swim safety.  I learnt if you are out in sea and if you put your hand up that means you are in danger. I also learnt do not swim in a rip.I also learnt to all ways wear a life jackets when you go in a boat.

The first trap is on the southeast side of the island. You land your ship on the north side of the island. The first lake is on the north west side of the island. The other lake is on the north east side of the island. The mountain is on the south west side of the island. The first grass area  is southeast of the island and the other one is on the north west side of the island.

I have learnt to do forwards and backwards       roll. For a forwards roll you put your chin on your chest and hands on the ground. Then push your legs straight and roll over.

Matey

Matey is Jorja's puppy. He is an American Stafford-shire crossed with an American Bulldog. Matey has sharp paws. He has a medium size tail. Matey likes to chew on his bone to make his teeth sharp. He likes to play with people. Matey lives at Jorja's house and he likes to sleep on Jorja's bed.
